SPRINGFIELD, MA - On Saturday December 14th, 2013, the Blue Sox will be teaming up with the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts to strike out hunger in the Pioneer Valley at their Holiday Food Drive that will be hosted by La Quinta Inn & Suites. The event will take place from 1-3pm on the 12th Floor of La Quinta at 100 Congress Street in Springfield, MA.
In attendance will be none other than Boston Red Sox mascot Wally the Green Monster to take pictures with families and children at the price of a generous donation of food or a cash donation to the Food Bank! In addition, a donation will also give attendees the opportunity to purchase Blue Sox full and half season tickets and gear for 10% off their usual price.
Here’s a list of the most-needed food items. All of them can be combined to make a healthy meal:
• Peanut butter and jelly
• Rice and canned or dry beans
• Spaghetti and canned spaghetti sauce
• Canned or boxed pasta/rice meals and canned vegetables
• Canned or instant soups/stews and rice
• Dry oatmeal and canned fruit
*No baby food or glass items please.
Also – if you’re feeling the holiday spirit, we’ll also be accepting BOXED POTATOES, BOXED STUFFING, CANNED SWEET POTATOES and CANNED VEGITABLES – all of which make for a fantastic, healthy holiday meal!
