SPRINGFIELD, Mass.— The Valley Blue Sox will be hosting a kickoff even Thursday, May 1st. at 6pm at the bar at La Quinta Inn & Suites at 100 Congress St. in Springfield. The event is free and open to the general public.
Free finger foods and a cash bar will be provided at the event as well as free tap beer. Attendees are encouraged to stay for a viewing of the Red Sox-Rays game where giveaways and prizes will be raffled off in between innings.
“It’ll be a great chance for fans to come down, enjoy some baseball and meet some of the Blue Sox staff,” said President Clark Eckhoff. “We’ve got some great items we’ll be giving as well.”
Fans will also be able to purchase season ticket packages, flex packs and other Blue Sox merchandise. No RSVP’s are necessary and the event will be open to the public. Both team President Clark Eckhoff and General Manager Hunter Golden will be in attendance to answer questions and talk with fans.
The 2014 season will represent the Blue Sox seventh season in the Pioneer Valley, playing at Mackenzie Stadium in Holyoke. The Blue Sox have been a member of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL; www.necbl.com) since 2008. The NECBL is funded in part by Major League Baseball and is comprised of 12 teams throughout all six New England states who recruit the elite athletes and premier pro prospects from around the world.
